about

Melymbrosia was the working title of Virginia Woolf's first published novel, which was eventually changed, in its "final," toned-down, de-politicized form, to The Voyage Out.

lyrics

Melymbrosia

Beyond the soft grass path,
June has dissolved in the refracted light of dawn.
The air is thick with echoes
And the river is giving off the strangest sort of calm.

CH: Water over rock, and joy over sadness,
I was raised by wolves and saved by madness.

In among the feral shallows
A thousand pairs of eyes betray their quiet wanderlust
As a beam sweeps the shore,
Haloing our shipwrecked souls and glittering the dust.

I’m simple as water
But my quicksilver course is irresponsible, undisciplined.
And oh, delirious heart, you never
Learned to tell the difference between voices and the wind.
